It represents the guaranteed or accumulated payout that the policyholder receives for having maintained the contract through its full duration — essentially the "reward" side of products that blend protection with savings. Common in endowment policies, money-back plans, and certain whole life variants, the maturity benefit distinguishes these products from pure term life coverage, which has no surviving-policyholder payout.
