Unlike the regulatory concept of licensing that governs who may sell or underwrite insurance, a licensing agreement is a commercial contract most commonly encountered when insurtechs license their software to carriers, when carriers license product frameworks to distribution partners, or when organizations share proprietary data analytics tools across affiliated entities.
